Ajax have become the latest club to be linked with City striker Robert Earnshaw. The Dutch giants are rumoured to be interested in bringing the 22-year-old to Amsterdam, as they prepare for Champions League football next season. Seville are also believed to be chasing Earnshaw. The Spanish Primera Liga side recently failed in an attempt to bring Diego Forlan to Spain from Manchester United for an estimated fee of £7.5million. Earnshaw's fee is expected to be about half of that, although personally I think this is a little high for a player who is yet to prove himself outside of the bottom two divisions. Still, it's amazing to think that Earnshaw same so close to signing for Greenock Morton for pennies just four seasons ago. Nor Earnshaw or Cardiff City have commented on these rumours, and not to much is really to be made of them. Clubs from Real Madrid to Bristol City have been linked with the Zambian-born striker, but no official bid has ever been made, and City owner Sam Hammam has always remained adamant that unless a massive bid came in for Earnie, he would not be leaving Ninian Park. |
