Cardiff City's latest signing Richard Langley has been persuaded to retire from international football at the age of 23. The Jamaican was told by City owner Sam Hammam that he must step down from the international scene if he were to sign for City.

Langley to Quit International Football at Only 23
New signing Richard Langley has agreed to retire from international football at the age of just 23, following his £200,000 move to Ninian Park.

Langley, who is only 23-years-old, has been told by City owner Sam Hammam that he may not participate in Jamaica's international matches, as it was result in him missing several Cardiff City games.

The arrangement is similar to one Gavin Gordon agreed with the Bluebirds when he joined from Lincoln City 3 seasons ago, when Hammam instructed Gordon to wave his rights to play in the Jamaican international side, meaning the only international football he could possibly play would be for England.

Although it will benefit Cardiff City, I personally think it is a bit unfair that Langley has been forced to give up his international career at such a young age.

Langley is an excellent talent, who would undoubtedly be included in the Jamaica set-up for years to come, and by agreeing to this he has lost the chance to represent his country in future World Cup tournaments.
