the Club Player of the Year award at the Football Association of Wales award
ceremony for the 2002/2003 season last night. The Zambian-born striker netted a record breaking 35 goals in all competitions for City last season, and fought off competition from Bluebirds team-mate Daniel Gabbidon to win the trophy. "It's been an unbelievable time for me, and I am delighted at winning this award." said the Welsh international. It's the third consecutive time Earnshaw has won an award at the ceremony, after picking up the Young Player of the Year trophy for the 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 seasons. The night though belonged to former Jack (boo!) John Hartson, who won the Welsh Player of the Year Award, with Gillingham 'keeper Jason Brown winning the Young Player of the Year Award and Simon Davies lifting the trophy for Welsh Fans Player of the Year. There were also awards given to Mel Hopkins and Alvan Williams for their services to Welsh football in general. The event was held at the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel, with approximately 150 people in attendance. |
