Oxford United Reserves 1-0 Cardiff City Reserves - Match Report
Cardiff City's second string side have slumped to another defeat at the hands of a dominant Oxford United side, in Monday nights Reserve League fixture.

Jefferson Louis got the only goal of the game for the home side, in a game played at non-league Oxford City's ground.

Oxford thoroughly deserved their victory, but there were a few performances from City players that stood out, notably Spencer Prior in defence. The former Manchester City centre-half looked solid in a City defence that dealt with a lot of pressure from the U's. Layton Maxwell also put in an impressive performance as he looks to stake a claim for a place in Lennie Lawrence's City side for the trip to Coventry City on Saturday week, where midfielders Graham Kavanagh and Willie Boland will both be suspended.

The pressure has been on Rhys Weston in the past few games after a few below-par displays, and Gary Croft's steady displau at right-back might be enough for him to start ahead of the Welsh international for City's trip to Sunderland.

It was another bad night for City striker Gavin Gordon though, who after showing some signs of promise, limped off with an ankle-injury and was replaced by youngster Stuart Fleetwood. His striker partner Andrew Campbell had the visitors best chance of the game with a 20-yard shot that flew just wide of the post.

A huge away following of 6 City fans, probably locals, made up the attendance of 200 in Oxford last night to witness the Bluebirds' third reserve defeat of the season.

Cardiff City: Lee-Barrett, Parslow, Prior, Anthony, Croft, Taylor, Maxwell (Parkins 72), Fish, Hayward (Thomas 77), Gordon (Fleetwood 55), Campbell
