While 1,100 City supporters watched their side gain a credible point on our first visit to the Stadium of Light, local rivals Bristol City let their grasp of the LDV Vans Trophy go with a 4-0 loss away to Plymouth Argyle. You've got to laugh!

Let's all Laugh at Brizzle!
Cardiff City supporters will have had a little smirk on their face after seeing local rivals Bristol City hammered 4-0 in the opening round of the LDV Vans Trophy by a dominant Plymouth Argyle.

The Robins won the trophy last season in front of 40,000 of their own supporters at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium last year, but there will be no Cup success for Danny Wilson's side this season.

So while 1,100 City fans saw their side gain a credible point on their first visit to the Stadium of Light, 250 or so Bristol City fans had a miserable drive home as they let their grasp of the LDV Vans Trophy go with a 4-0 loss!

Of course, the Bluebirds will not be entered into the LDV Vans Trophy this season, due to the fact that we're currently enjoying life in the First Division! It won't be greatly missed by many City supporters, and we never really got anywhere in it since it was formed as the Associate Members Cup in the mid-1980's.

I enjoyed two away trips in the Cup to Exeter and Bournemouth last season travelling with under 100 fellow Bluebird supporters to both, and hopefully it will be the last LDV away matches I will have to do for a few seasons yet!

As for the Jacks, their Cup anguish was prolonged as they received a bye to the second-round, where they have been handed a 'money spinning' tie at home to Southend United. Come on the Shrimpers! Thousands of Jacks visiting our City centre doesn't warrant thinking about!
