Earnshaw to replace Bellamy at St.James' Park? |
With Craig Bellamy’s future at Newcastle United in increasing doubt, rumours are going round the press than Newcastle United are set to make a bid for City’s Zambian-born forward Robert Earnshaw in the upcoming January sales.
Bellamy’s constant fitness with his knee have brought about rumours that the Welsh international could sensationally quit the game at the end of the season, and Sir Bobby Robson might see Earnshaw as an ample replacement.
However, nothing much is to be read into this rumour. Newcastle join a very, very long list of clubs who are linked with the 22-year-old, but the club haven’t revealed that they have received a bid for Earnie since he came so close to signing for Greenock Morton back in the Frank Burrows era!
The Magpies are not the only club to be linked with Earnshaw in recent weeks. Last week Bluebird to the Bone reported yet another Earnshaw rumour, claiming that Blackburn Rovers were set to offer an incredible £5million and Dwight Yorke for City’s record breaking striker.
Both of the Old Firm clubs have also been rumoured to be showing interest in the Welsh international, but any potential bid coming from either of the Glaswegian giants would depend on their success in the Champions League, due to a current lack of transfer funds available.
