The City reserve side have recorded yet another victory, beating Swindon Town 2-0 at Ninian Park. Gavin Gordon, who put in another impressive second-string display, and Stuart Fleetwood were the scorers for the Bluebirds who remain in the hunt for the Wales & West England Pontins Combination title.
The Cardiff City reserves recorded another victory, with Gavin Gordon yet again on the scoresheet, with rivals Swindon Town going down 2-0 at Ninian Park.
The notable inclusion in the City line-up was Welsh international John Robinson, who played the entire 90 minutes and looked way on his way to being ready to return to the first-team. There is a possibility that he may been involved in Saturday’s visit to the Hawthorns to face promotion favourites West Bromwich Albion.
After a goalless first-half, City came out of the blocks early in the second period and soon found themselves two goals to the good. The first goal of the game came courtesy of a Stuart Fleetwood penalty. The youngster, who recently signed a professional contract with the Bluebirds, caused the Robins defence problems all afternoon with his blistering pace, and netted a cool penalty to break the deadlock.
On the hour mark Gavin Gordon, who put in an impressive performance as he looks to get back into first-team contention doubled the advantage with a trademark header after Danny Parslow sent in an accurate cross to the target man.
The Bluebirds survived a late surge of pressure from the visitors, and collected yet another win, fully deserved by Paul Wilkinson’s side. City’s hunt for the Wales & West England Pontins Combination title continues.
