Cardiff City face League Two outfit Kidderminster Harriers on Tuesday evening in the first round of the League Cup. Fringe players such as Andy Campbell and James Collins could be given a chance to impress as the Bluebirds look to put two consecutive defeats behind them.
Cardiff City will look to put two consecutive defeats behind them as they take on Kidderminster Harriers in the first round of the League Cup. Lennie Lawrence is expected to make a handful of chances to his line-up that went down 3-1 with an awful performance against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
City will be looking to advance in a competition they haven't done particularly well in for years. Not only would it breed confidence, but it would give a chance for a decent run to boost the club coffers and give something to excite the fans. Last season the Bluebirds made it to the second round, before throwing away a 2-goal lead to be knocked-out by West Ham United.
Players who have only been making the substitutes bench recently look set to be given a chance to impress on Tuesday evening, with Lawrence prepared to look at players after a dissapointing run of performances recently. James Collins, Lee Bullock, Paul Parry and Willie Boland will all be included, with Andy Campbell set to start up front. Tony Warner will continue between the sticks with a chance to put Saturday's blunder behind him. Skipper Graham Kavanagh, Alan Lee and Robert Page are likely to be among the bigger names rested.
It's pay on the gate for travelling Bluebirds supporters, with about 400 expected to make the trip to Aggborough. The 7.45pm kick-off must have a winner this evening, with extra-time and penalties to follow should the two sides be level after the 90 minutes of action.
