Oldham Athletic are considering signing Josh Low on a permanent basis. The pacy midfielder impressed during their pre-season friendly against Newcastle, in which he scored and was named man of the match.

It was the perfect start for Low. He made several exciting runs down the flank and also scored a well-taken goal against the Premiership giants.

Lawrence confirmed: "Josh played in a friendly against Newcastle United and there are positive noises coming from Oldham about his debut."

Lawrence will have talks with Oldham manager Ian Dowie about the possibility of signing Low on a free transfer. The deal is likely to be completed after Saturday's match between the two clubs.

Oldham coach Tony Philliskirk, a former Bluebirds player, said: "Josh is a big, strong, powerful lad who is quick for his size. He whipped some decent balls in.

"He's a player we feel might strengthen us and the type of player we don't have at the club right now."

Low is one of a number of players who Lawrence is looking to get rid of to reduce the ridiculously high wage bill.

The midfielder started off very well for City and was named in the PFA team of the season during our Division Three promotion campaign. However, he lost his confidence too easily and now will not be able to break into Cardiff first team contention.
