Warriors Fans Win More Than Warriors @ Sixways

JonW shows the Warriors how to win @ Sixways and it doesn't involve bribing the refereee or RFU! A simple competition was set-up by Coral.co.uk for the big screen.
JonW Wins! But Warriors Lose.
In the week leading upto the Leicester match an article appeared on the official Worcester rugby website. It asked for people to enter a competition sponsored by Coral.co.uk to win the opportunity to appear on the Sixways pitch at half-time of the Warriors vs Tigers game. Well, I entered and got a nice phone call on Thursday morning saying I had been successful with my entry. Wohoo!! I have done the Twickenham pitch, now I can do Sixways (again). Happy Jon. I was informed that the minimum prize I could walk away with was some champagne, so at least the missus was gonna be happy!!

Matchday arrives; I had arranged a meeting with the organiser from Coral, Roy Mantle at 2pm on matchday. Eventually I managed to get round the (well hidden) big screen in between the West Stand and the South Stand to discuss the actual event, during that time I also had to direct the compere for the competition, who had almost managed to get lost in Worcester. Good start, maybe I might win just by helping!

The 1st half is played, things not going so good, losing 10-6 (I missed the last penalty as was wandering down to the big screen, so in my mind only 7-6). We toss the coin, which I lost, great, not going well at all so far!! Half-time whistle goes my contestant, a lady called Sue (I think, apologies if incorrect) walk out onto the pitch with the compere Andy, who then proceeded to play the game most commonly seen on the TV show "Play Your Cards Right". However, it wasn't with cards it was with rugby shirts. I go first, and I get a nice little run of the 1st 3 correct (with the help of the South & East stand), and then, doh, get one wrong. Sue took her place and got the next one right.

Down to the last card now, the rules were (effectively) all or nothing on the last card. If she got the last card right, then she would the prizes, if she was wrong I would win!! Please get it wrong, please!! The number was an 8, ouch! Higher? Lower? Higher? Lower? Scary stuff. My contestant took advice from her son who was over in the West stand, she went lower..........bang! up pops a 12 (or was it 15?, can't remember again) I win! I win!! Yay me!! I win!

A good bit of fun, and I got stuff too. I think the crowd enjoyed it too, and is certainly a competition that I am sure others would like to see more often at rugby grounds.

By the way, won the following:
iPod Shuffle

£50 free bet with Coral.co.uk
Coral T-shirt
Bottle of Champagne (for the missus, she's happy, hehehe)
Thanking to Daz very muchly for the photographs.
