Van der Merwe’s late try in Paris was not only significant for giving Scotland victory, but also saw him finish as the outright top try scorer ahead of Rees-Zammit, who had been top since the second round but only scored one in the last three games.

It was the Scotland winger’s second of the night and fourth in two games as he made a late surge to take the accolade.

Dupont was the championship’s creative king, making his fifth assist against Scotland on Friday night with the other four coming against Italy.

Four Wales players finished with two try assists, with Navidi, Biggar, Davies and Rees-Zammit joining seven other players in joint third.

Wales’ defence was key to their title triumph and Tipuric has led the way on tackle statistics throughout the Six Nations with team-mate Faletau also in the top three.

Ireland reign supreme at the breakdown with Beirne way out in front after an outstanding tournament.

Ritchie made two turnovers for Scotland against France to join Itoje and Stander on five.

More than half of Biggar’s points came in Wales' final game against France as he racked up 20 to finish two points ahead of Matthieu Jalibert, who went off injured and missed the final game against Scotland, and one ahead of Finn Russell.
