City move up to third in the Nationwide Conference table after a 3-0 win over 10-men Barnet at Underhill. Mark Wright's men lined up as....

After Chester recorded their first victory of the season away at Telford, Mark Wright’s men were confident going into yesterdays clash and didn’t disappoint their loyal following. City kept their 3rd clean sheet of season and lift themselves up into 3rd position after an “uphill” challenge against Barnet on Saturday ended 3-0.

It seemed important for Chester to capitalise on the fact that they were playing downhill in the first half and created a few good chances in a half they really dominated.

Cameron and Sugden both had half chances which on another day may of converted. Midway through the half Dave Cameron should of passed across to either Twiss or Sugden rather than striking towards goal.

Both Chris Blackburn and Jimmy Kelly bossed the midfield with “Blackie” winning every aerial battle. McIntyre who later received our Chester City man of the match put himself about and won most 50-50 battles.

In the second half with Chester shooting from left to right (Uphill) Barnet went down to 10 men after a two footed tackle which looked no worse than a yellow card. For the next 10 minutes Chester adopted the long ball system to no effect.

The deadlock was broke when a Michael Twiss shot was deflected to Sugden side footed into an empty net and notched up his second in two games.

On 87 minutes after Beesley and Ruffer replaced Sugden and Cameron a Scott Guyett through ball put Twiss clear who left the last defender for dead with a fantastic drag over before placing the ball past the Barnet keeper.

The scoring was ended on 90 minutes when substitute Mark Beesley opened his seasons goal scoring campaign with a strike from a very tight angle.

Most are delighted with the start Chester have made to the season and you may or may not of noticed that Wayne Brown is yet to make a diving save so far. The seals will be hoping to continue their run of not conceding in their next fixture against Scarborough on bank holiday Monday.
