City Manager Mark Wright fielded a fairly strong side to face Stockport County last night in the quarter-finals of the Cheshire Senior Cup away to Stockport County.

City went through into the semi-finals of the competition, thanks to a 3-1 victory after extra-time.

Nineteen-year-old substitute striker Danny Byrne and Chris Tate were Chester's heros. The former Southport player Bryne scored two goals after a Chris Tate equaliser had sent the teams into extra-time.

Tate struck on the stroke of half time with a fantastic 40 yard lob.
