Anastasia Myskina celebrated her first match as a member of the world's top 10 by beating fellow Russian Dinara Safina
Myskina beat Safina en route to the Doha title last week and this time won 6-4, 6-3 in just over an hour.
Strong winds made it difficult for either player to find any consistency, but Myskina's greater experience helped her secure the first set.
Safina, the 16-year-old sister of Marat Safin, led 2-0 in the second set but seven double-faults allowed Myskina back into the set.
"The wind was strong and it was tough conditions" said Myskina. "Dinara played much better than she did last week. She didn't make a lot of errors."
