Grand Prix De S.A.R. La Princesse

Top-three seeds Rita Grande of Italy and Henrieta Nagyova of Slovakia were among the opening-round winners Monday at the $110,000 Grand Prix De S.A.R. La Princesse tennis tournament.

The second-seeded Grande handled countrywoman Adriana Serra Zanetti 6-3, 7-5, while the third-seeded Nagyova topped Romanian Ruxandra Dragomir Ilie 6-3, 6-4.

Spaniard Marta Marrero bounced seventh-seeded Czech Iveta Benesova 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, and eighth-seeded Spaniard Cristina Torrens Valero snuck past Croatian Silvija Talaja 7-6 (7-2), 1-6, 6-2 on the red clay at Complexe Al Amal.

In other first-round action, Russian Anastassia Rodionova overcame Slovakian Martina Sucha 7-5, 5-7, 6-3, and Slovakian Ludmila Cervanova dismissed Spaniard Maria Sanchez Lorenzo 6-1, 6-4.
