Dechy overcomes Swiss teenager

Seventh seed Nathalie Dechy earned her place in the last eight with a 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 6-4 win over Switzerland's Marie-Gaianeh Mikaelian

She now faces wildcard Ansley Cargill, who followed up her win over Parry Schnyder with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win over Tamarine Tanasugarn.

Former Australian Open and French Open Champion started her clay court season in style with a confident 6-4, 6-2 victory over Marion Bartoli and now faces Elena Dementieva.

Nadia Petrova beat Elena Likhovtseva to set up a clash with Anastasia Myskina, Petrova ranked 110th in the world beat Martina Hingis last year at the Kremlin Cup in Russia at to fight through qualifiers to gain main draw access.

Anna Pistolesi will meet Clarisa Fernandez. Also, Conchita Martinez will square off against Alicia Molik, Iva Majoli will match up against Iroda Tulyaganova and Maja Matevzic will face Paola Suarez. Suarez knocked off top-seeded and defending champion Jelena Dokic in the first round.
