Srebotnik wins in Estoril

Top-seeded Slovenian Katarina Srebotnik won her opening match Wednesday against Arantxa Parra at the red clay courts at the Estoril Open

Srebotnik handled Spaniard Arantxa Parra 6-4, 6-4 to set-up a second-round setup against German qualifier Julia Schruff, a 7-5, 6-1 victor against Argentine
Maria Emilia Salerni.

Third-seed Frenchwoman Virginie Razzano, secured quarterfinal spots. Razzano held off Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 on the red clay at Estadio Nacional.

A mild upset came when Slovakian Ludmila Cervanova bounced eighth-seeded Czech Iveta Benesova 6-3, 6-2.

In other second-round action, Croat Silvija Talaja topped Paraguay's Rossana Neffa-de los Rios 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, and Swiss Emmanuelle Gagliardi grounded Croat Jelena Kostanic 6-2, 7-6 (8-6). Talaja and Gagliardi will lock horns in the quarters.
