Fourth seed Nicole Pratt was made a prat in her first round at the Croatian Ladies Open, Bol losing to unknown Spaniard Conchita Martinez Granados 6-4, 6-3

Pratt was a part of the Australian Fed Cup team losing to Spain and she also lost to the original Conchita Martinez in her rubber.

Ludmila Cervanova who also took part in the Fed Cup last week for Slovakia continued her good run by beating 8th seed Petra Mandula from Hungary 7-5, 6-1. But the most impressive performance was Russian Vera Zvonareva completely crushing Croatian Dizdar.

Suprise comfortable win for Swiss star Emanuelle Gargliardi after she beat Cristina Torrens-Valero in convincing fashion 6-3, 6-1.
