Schnyder out by Spaniard Garcia

Patty Schnyder the top seed at the Croatian Open, Bol was well beaten by former top 50 Gala Leon Garcia of Spain. The Spaniard stole the first set on a tie-break and then wrapped it up with a 6-4 second set.

Austrian Patricia Wartusch was another loser to Samantha Reeves of the USA in a three set match with the Reeves grabbing the victory.

Zvonareva the Russian who is being called the future of womens tennis struggled against qualifier Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany. The final set went into a tie-break situation with the German not giving up pushing Zvonareva all the way to a 10-8 scoreline.
