(6) Lindsay Davenport (USA) v Iroda Tulyaganova (UZB)

This could possibly be another Harkleroad v Hantuchova going a long way in the third set. Both players are very fit and have big powerful groundstrokes making this match the one to watch with a lot of entertainment and drama but on the other hand Davenport could be in a mood where she doesn't feel like doing much work and getting it out of the way. Tulyaganova was built up to be the next big thing in womens tennis but hasn't lived up to expectation after injuries putting her on the sidelines for a long time but will give the 6th seed a lot of fright in this second round clash. The Uzbekistan has had a lot more clay court match practice than Davenport but Davenport will be the fresher of the both making it almost impossible to pick a winner.

But Davenport will win in 3 sets and may win in straight sets if Tulyaganova isn't on top of her game!


Tina Pisnik (SLO) v (10) Jelena Dokic (Serb)

The out of sorts Dokic versus the return to form Slovenian. Dokic had a good first round win here which she desperatly needed but could all end today by Pisnik but somehow I think Heinz Gunthard's coaching is now becoming effective on the 10th seed helping her through to a clash with Conchita Martinez.

Dokic in straight sets if she's focused but not 6-0, 6-1 more like 7-5, 6-4
