Clijsters and Henin-Hardenne in the quarterfinals

Belgian Kim Clijsters and Justine Henin-Hardenne reached the quarterfinals of the Sparkassen Cup in Leipzig. No.1 seed Kim Clijsters beats Jelena Dokic of Serbia-Montenegro 6-3 6-4 and 2nd seed Justine Henin-Hardenne defeats Czech Denisa Chladkova 6-1 6-2.

Jelena Dokic, who is not at her best in the 2003 season, didnt look eager to win against the number one of the world. Kim Clijsters did not face too much competition against the 20-year-old Dokic.

Clijsters, who bans the Belgian press because her father Leo Clijsters says they have changed his words about Henin muscle growth, will be playing against Swiss Patty Schnyder. The only Belgian journalist present in Leipzig is not allowed to ask Clijsters any questions in Dutch or in English.

Henin-Hardenne will meet fellow Belgian Els Callens who defeats American Alexandra Stevenson.

Russian Nadia Petrova beat Germany’s Anna-Lena Groenefeld 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 and plays compatriot Anatasia Myskina in the quarterfinals.

The qualifiers Maria Vento-Kabchi and Sandra Kleinova start in the other quarterfinal.
