France has claimed its second Fed Cup title with a 4-1 victory over the USA. Amélie Mauresmo (FRA) beat Lisa Raymond (USA) 6:4 6:3, Mary Pierce (FRA) won against Meghann Shaughnessy (USA) 6:3 3:6 8:6.

Amélie Mauresmo (FRA) won against Meghann Shaughnessy (USA), Emilie Loit (FRA) beat Alexandra Stevenson 6:4 6:2 and Martina Navratilova (USA) won with Lisa Raymond (USA) against Emilie Loit (FRA) and Stephanie Cohen-Aloro (FRA) 6:4 6:0.


With the two great wins from Amélie Mauresmo and Mary Pierce on Saturday and the two wins from Amélie Mauresmo and Emilie Loit on Sunday it was perfect. France beat the USA with 4:1 France lost the last doubles but this wasn’t important anymore. After 1997 France won the Fed Cup for the second time.
