Kim Clijsters won the Open Gaz de France

In only 58 minutes Kim Clijsters won in her second final this year her 20th title. Clijsters easily beat french woman Mary Pierce 6:2 6:1 in the final of the Open Gaz de France in Paris.

After 58 minutes it was over, a great tournament for Kim Clijster and a great week for Mary Pierce.
Pierce played her first tournament this year and her first final after her Grand Slam title by the French Open 2000. For Pierce it was the third final by the Open Gaz de France, she won the tournament 1998 and lost 1995 in the final. For the 9th time in 12 years a french woman reached the single final.

Kim Clijsters played for the first time by the Open Gaz de France and only lost one set (against Silvia Farina Elia) on her way to her 20th title. With 20 titles Kim Clijsters became the youngest ( at 20 years, eight months and seven days) and 20th woman to win 20 titles.

Mary Pierce who lost against a strong world No 2, Kim Clijsters, said after the final, that she was very pleased with her week, but that she was dissappointed that she hadn’t played better that day.
Kim Clijsters herself said, that she was very happy with the way she had played that day.

All in all it was a great week for both and they can come back with nice memories in the next year.
