Gubasci wins through to the Quarters in Casablanca

Casablanca, Morocco (Sports Network) - Defending champion Zsofia Gubacsi was among Wednesday's second-round winners at the $110,000 Casablanca Grand Prix.

Casablanca, Morocco (Sports Network) - Defending champion Zsofia Gubacsi was among Wednesday's second-round winners at the $110,000 Casablanca Grand Prix.

The seventh-seeded Gubacsi routed Czech Lenka Nemeckova 6-2, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals of this clay-court tournament.

The Hungarian Gubacsi defeated Italian Maria Elena Camerin in last year's Casablanca final.

Camerin, unseeded this week, was a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 opening-round victor against Morocco's own Bahia Mouhtassine on Day 3.

In other second-round action, third-seeded Hungarian Petra Mandula stopped Canadian Marie-Eve Pelletier, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2; fourth-seeded Slovakian Ludmila Cervanova stomped Spaniard Ainhoa Goni, 6-1, 6-2; and Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova ousted fifth-seeded Spaniard Conchita Martinez-Granados, 6-1, 6-0.
