Barcelona Pace important

The Spaniard however suggests that the Barcelona circuit is the best test circuit to judge a cars true potential and pace, his comments come after the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team conquered the pre season tests, finishing high up the rankings in every test.

"I often say that the times in testing are not that important," de la Rosa commented. "However in Barcelona it's slightly different because if you can be fast at this track there is likelihood that you will be quick on the other tracks as well. As a result this is a great circuit for testing and for that reason it's good to be fast here." He said.

"However as always it's difficult to predict where you are compared to the competition as we are all running different programmes," he added. "All I can say is that we are comfortable with our testing and where we are with the different fuel loads." He added.
