Fernando annoys his OWN fanclub

We knew double world champion Fernando Alonso would be making headlines, but in this case, for all the wrong reasons. Raging Fernando Alonso fans were incensed at the arrogant attitude of their idol, so much so he was described by one member “like crap”.

Raging Fernando Alonso fans were incensed at the arrogant attitude of their idol, so much so he was described by one member “like crap”.

A group of hardcore members of 17, from 'Pena Asturias F1', whom run a dedicated website to their idol, were left appalled by Fernando Alonso’s behaviour.

The actual president of the club, Manuel Rodriguez, was less that complimentary about his fellow Spaniard, he spoke to El Mundo Deportivo, claiming Alonso treated his fans with contempt after a few requested photos and autographs.
"He looked at us with disgust and answered 'no'."

Instead these hardcore Fernando fans were left happy by Fernando’s main championship rival, none other than Kimi Raikkonen.
Rodriguez continued: "We are annoyed. We support the driver but we think Alonso as a person leaves a lot to be desired."


Despite this apparent spat between the driver and his fans, the travelling group of 17 still intend to travel to Malaysia.


Strictly from a fans point of view, this really is sad to hear, I’ve always viewed Fernando with having an arrogance, but I thought that all drivers in this business need an air of arrogance to succeed.
But when your fans travel half way across the world to see your debut race at your new team, the least Fernando could have done was sign a few things and smile for a few pictures.

He needs to remember that as it is, he lags far behind the likes of Kimi Raikkonen in popularity polls of favourite drivers, ok he can easily point to two world championships, as lets not kid ourselves that’s what really matters.
But doing little to endear yourself to the fans is really pathetic, remember Schumacher for all his sins still had a massive following, because he was on the whole very considerate of his fans.

The ironic thing is, Kimi was happy to pose for pictures with Fernando fans at Melbourne, yet when it came to signing autographs and taking pictures with the Italian fans in Melbourne, he refused and subsequently was booed for most of the weekend, even after winning the race!!
