Qualifying: Alonso 2nd, Lewis 4th.

April 7 2007
The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes formula one team finished qualifying an impressive 2nd and 4th splitting the 2 Ferrari’s, Alonso finishing 7 tenths of a second faster than Hamilton.
Young British superstar Lewis Hamilton looks to be running a heavier fuel load, calmly saying that “he experienced rain at turn 7, and lifted off” However from previous runs that he did, he looked to be carrying a few laps more fuel than Alonso, as he did in Australia.
In the second knock out faze, every driver who would be contesting in that part of qualifying rushed out, as team personnel predicted a good chance of rain, therefore, all the drivers rushed out to get in a good lap. It made a good TV spectacle as times were coming in just about every second, ever increasing tension.
Then it dropped off, teams and drivers happy with their times, they settled back to wait to have one more assault, in the quest for absolute speed. The top 5 people in the second session decided to stay in the pit garage, happy with the times that they’d set earlier in the session, they sat out, saving a fresh set of tyres for the long, gruelling race.
Then in the third session, everyone set out quickly to attempt to get pole position. Felipe Massa managing to do that, finishing just 0.3 of a second ahead of Fernando Alonso. Kimi Räikkönen looks to be on a heavier fuel load, however he went wide at turn 6 and looked to have lost a couple of tenths in the process
Complete times will be shown below.
