Alonso Relagated 5 Places, McLaren Lose Points

The move comes after Fernando Alonso contreverialy blockedteam mate Lewis Hamilton, a move that cost the twenty two year old Britain pole position for this weekends Hungarian Grand Prix. The FIA stewards have descided that Fernando must lose five grid spaces, making him start in 6th position, McLarens actions in handeling the case has reslulted in the team unable to score any constructers points.

The sports coverning body, the FIA spent hours revewing McLaren's radio transmissions, and the other evidence that was presented to the FIA. The result of this latest case, which is damaging to the sport.

McLaren have decided to appeal against the FIA's descision, the appeal will be heard after the race today. However, McLaren have decided not to appeal against the sanctions apposed on Fernando, as the team beleive that he should be punished.

Former 1996 world champion Damon Hill, who was commentating for ITV F1, had this to say on the situation.

"It seemed like a tactical ploy from Alonso to make sure that he was the last person to get a lap in, to be out on the track at the very end, and that seemed to be at the cost of Lewis getting his lap in," Hill said in Hungary. "I think you have to say that Alonso's put his foot down and basically got what he wanted. He certainly showed he's not prepared to play a team game if it's at his expense. I think it was a very selfish thing to do. But sometimes selfish guys win."
