Fernando To Leave McLaren ASAP

From day one we knew that Fernando wasn't happy at his new McLaren team, the Spaniard repeatedly said to the Spanish press that he was unhappy at McLaren due to the team favoring Lewis Hamilton, something we know not to be true, as througout the season, Fernando has insisted that he has a better qualifying stratergy, to control the race ahead of his rookie team mate.

As tensions between the two reached new heights at last weekend Hungarian grand prix- where Fernando controversial blocked Lewis Hamilton from getting his extra fuel burn lap, which almost certainly would of got the twenty two year old pole position.

The matter, as we all know, went to the FIA stewards, and Fernando was relegated five places on the grid, which undoubtedly cost him a podium finish.

The Hungarian grand prix was a disappointment, as instead of racing with Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton, for the majority of the race, he was stuck behind a slower Ralf Schumacher, causing him to lose a vast amount of time, which inevitably cost him third place.

Bild newspaper quotes him as clearly telling Spanish reporters: "Right now I am thinking: me or Hamilton? But I know that nothing will change.

"I get the feeling that some people at McLaren do not even know that I speak English."
 

Meanwhile Fernando Alonso has told the Spanish newspaper Dario As, that "I want to stay with McLaren for not a minute longer."

So where would Fernando go? Renault have expressed their wishes to get Fernando back, but would the double world champion want to go back to Renault. Could he go to Ferrari? Or maybe even BMW, as BMW haven't finalised their 2008 driver line up. Could he go to Red Bull?

If, and only if, Fernando wants to join a different team, Renault would be his most likely option, as he is familiar with the team, and could be paired with Heikki Kovalainen.

Who would replace him at McLaren? Robert Kubica is a likely option, but the McLaren squad could take an intrest in Sebastian Vettel. Failing that, either Pedro De La Rosa or Gary Paffet could fill Fernando's seat.
