Fernando To Stay At McLaren

Mercedes Motorsport Boss Norbert Haug is certain that reigning double world champion, Fernando Alonso will fulfil his contractual obligations and stay at McLaren until his contract runs out. Over the past few weeks, it became clear that the double world champion was uncertain on whether McLaren was the right team for him, and whether he wanted to remain team mates with main rival Lewis Hamilton.

Many areas of the press had put out suggestions that the reigning champion would move to his former team Renault, or move to another competitive team, such as: BMW, Renault, Ferrari or even Red Bull.

Throughout this season, Fernando has stated to the Spanish press that he is unhappy with his McLaren team, Alonso believing that his team was favoring his main rival and team mate Lewis Hamilton.

Fernando and Lewis’s relationship worsened after the Hungarian grand prix, after Lewis either misunderstood or disobeyed McLaren’s qualifying strategy, leaving Lewis without a second chance to take pole position.

The three week summer break has given McLaren time to calm tensions within their own team, Mansour Ojjeh- joint owner of the McLaren Group- invited the teams drivers to his giant yacht in order to bring peace among the team.

Mercedes motorsport Boss Norbet Haug believes Fernando Alonso will stay at McLaren and fulfil his three years as a McLaren Mercedes driver. "There is a contract" Haug said to Focus ( A German language magazine). Haug added "And in Hungary, without being asked, he verbally confirmed that he intends to fulfil his current contract."

We are glad to report that Fernando and Lewis's relationship is healthy, it seems team boss Ron Dennis has calmed both drivers down.

In other news, McLaren's court of appeal hearing will take place on September 19th, on which McLaren will be looking to try and reclaim the constructors points that the team lost in Hungary.
