Monza Day 1: Hamilton Fastest

Current championship leader Lewis Hamilton has finished the first day of testing at the famous Italian circuit in first position ahead of Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen. Hamilton achieved a best time of 1:24:112, just over a tenth of a second ahead of Kimi under the hot Italian sun, which turned into rain at the end of the day.

Every team but Spyker participated in today’s test, with the session starting out dry and sunny, which gave the teams chance to test new aerodynamic pieces for the Italian and Belgium grand prix.

The higher speed circuit should of aided Ferrari’s longer wheelbase car, however it appears that McLaren’s new pieces have helped their pace. Hamilton completed 52 laps of the 5.7 Km circuit. Lewis and Fernando will share testing duties.
