Practice 2:Hamilton Fastest, Alonso A Tenth Behind

The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes formula one team have completed the second practice session to this weekends all important Brazilian Grand Prix. Current championship leader Lewis Hamilton was fastest in the second ninety minute session. Meanwhile his double world champion team mate, Fernando Alonso, ended the session a tenth of a second behind.

Current world championship leader Lewis Hamilton has finished the second free practice session fastest ahead of this weekends Brazilian Grand Prix, which will decide this years drivers championship.

Hamilton’s team mate, Fernando Alonso ended the session in 2nd place, just a tenth of a second behind. Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, who won here last year, finished in 3rd position three tenths behind Hamilton. Whilst practice one pace setter, Kimi Räikkönen finished in fourth position. Over the 2007 season we have learnt that Ferrari concentrate on race setup in the second session, so the difference between McLaren and Ferrari will be smaller than it was today.

Renault driver Giancarlo Fisichella ended in 5th position ahead of BMW driver Robert Kubica who was trading fastest lap times with Lewis earlier in the session. The two Williams driver’s Kazuki Nakajima and Nico Rosberg ended the second session in 7th and 8th places.

Red Bull Racing driver David Coulthard was just under a second slower than pace setter Hamilton in 9th position, whilst BMW driver Nick Heidfeld rounded out the top 10.
