Jerez Day 3: McLaren 6th and 10th

The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One Team has completed their second day of testing at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain. Race driver Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen completed the teams testing duties for the day, while setting 6th and 10th fastest lap times- 01:19.857 and 01:20.152 respectively.

Topping the time sheets was Red Bull’s Mark Webber, who set a best lap time which was almost half a second faster than Lewis Hamilton’s fastest time of the previous days testing. The Australian played down his quick lap time, as he is quoted as saying that “a lot of fuel was taken out”.

Williams duo, Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima finished in second and third places respectively, the two ended up four and six tenths of a second behind the pace setter, Webber. Finishing behind he Williams duo, was ex McLaren driver, and former world champion, Fernando Alonso, the Spaniard finished seven tenths off the pace.

BMW’s Robert Kubica ended the day in 5th place, with McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton following the Polish driver in 6th. Hamilton’s team-mate, Heikki Kovalainen, set 10th fastest lap time, while focusing on aerodynamic development.
