Pedro: New McLaren Not Quick Enough

McLaren test and reserve driver, Pedro de la Rosa, has insisted that McLaren need to do more aerodynamic work to its latest title challenger, the MP4-23, if it is to beat Ferrari in this years world championship. Speaking to the Spanish newspaper, Diario AS, de la Rosa said "Basically we have to make the car faster, and that means a lot of work on the aerodynamic side still has to be done"

We are very pleased with the reliability we have shown until now, so the main thing is to be faster. But that does not mean that we no longer have a very competitive car in all areas.

From the huge, and some say unfair penalty McLaren received after last years 'StephneyGate' McLaren's development on the MP4-23 has been slowed down to say the least. Three areas of the new car can't be developed to their full potential, this includes the quick-shift gearbox, the fuel intake and Ferrari's secret tyre gas.

The next and final group test before the Australian Grand Prix is on the 25th-27th of Febuary. Where McLaren and Ferrari are shedualed to be testing, giving us an idea of how far McLaren are from Ferrari. Both Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen will be testing on all three days.
