Speedchannel secures F1 coverage for 3 years!

Over the last 10 weeks or so, the U.S. has been sweating bullets as to who, if anyone, would cover Formula 1 this season. In an unbelievable turn of events, Speedchannel has secured the rights for 3 years for the entire 16 race calendar..including the U.S. Grand Prix at Indianapolis.

All I can say is,"WHEW!" Speedchannel comes through in a really big way to secure the future of F1 in the United States for the next three years. In a major coup (or at least to this person it is!), they have even obtained the rights to broadcast the U.S. GP at Indianapolis-which had been covered since it's inception by major U.S. networks.

Speedchannel will sadly still have Rick DeBruhl doing play by play...but in the end, we'll still have David Hobbs and Steve Matchett in the both, as well as Peter Windsor doing pit reporting as usual...so there's your saving grace.

Now that we can relax, thanks to everyone that wrote in and comented on the story, and thanks to all of those who yelled at Speedchannel to get off it and go get F1. I think it shows just how many fans there are here in the States that Speedchannel would go out and secure the series for 3 years.
