Kimi Raikonnen takes the Poll!

Today, for the very first time Kimi Raikonnen took the poll. For some people, it's just a poll. For me, and anyone that trully loves McLaren as I do it was more than that.
It was magic. Today, a young Finn that but for a few years could be my son got into a black and silver McLaren...he became one with the car...the car grew the wings of an eagle, and flew.
The Flying Finn rides again. It is a very special day to any true McLaren fan, and a very special day for anyone that really loves Formula 1. It is by no coincidence I think, that it happened for Kimi today. You see, it was at the very same track, on the same kind of Saturday that another young Finn named Mika Hakinnen drove to his very first poll position in 1997.
Coincidence? Maybe.
Destiny? Could be.
Magic? DEFFINATELY!
Mika would go on to win the world title just one year later. He would do it again in 1999. He would just miss out in 2000, and call it quits.
I am very happy for Kimi. I hope he, and others remember today...for if there is a such thing as magic, and if there is a such thing as destiny, Kimi is on his way. It's the kind of thing that some will scoff at and say, "ahhh...he got lucky." That's ok. They could be right.
They could be wrong too. They were in '97. They were VERY wrong.
Here's to Kimi's future...no matter what happens tomorrow, or next year, I'll never forget today. I hope I'm right. I hope there is still a such thing as magic...and a little bit of destiny. If I'm right and they are wrong, I'm going to be a VERY happy McLaren fan for the next couple of years. Maybe even more.
I can't wait to see it. I just can't wait.
