Flav Understands Fernando's Position

Flavio Briatore has said that he understands Fernando Alonso's decision to leave the team that made him World Champion to join Woking based squad McLaren. The Renault boss, who promoted Alonso to a full-time drive at the team for 2003, replacing Jenson Button, sees Alonso's point of view.

"He (Alonso) has been working with us for five years," the Italian told Bild magazine.

"So I don't have any problems with him looking for a new challenge," Briatore concluded.

Fernando Alonso will join McLaren in 2007. His team mate for the season is yet to be confirmed.
