Michael Schumacher cruised to victory at home after his final pit stop, with Fernando Alonso admitting defeat from the German. Felipe Massa grabbed his first ever podium in the quick Ferrari, with McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen under half a second behind.
Juan Pablo Montoya fell victim to a high attrition rate at the Nurburgring, despite the track only demanding the drivers to be on full throttle 66% of the time.
