Town sign McDonald

Mick Wadsworth has signed striker Scott McDonald in a three-month loan deal.

Mick has only been here two days and he's already making an impression. He has just signed Southampton striker Scott McDonald in a three-month loan deal. Wadsworth is said to have his eyes on signing McDonald on apermanent basis but nothing is confirmed yet.

His only start was in the Worthington Cup victory over Brighton last september and has played a mere two games from the subs bench. Clearly the Saints don't see him as an indispensable member of their squad.

Wadsworth said: 'McDonald is a player that I have been looking at for a while. I was working with him over the summer. He's got great pace, he's strong and he's a good finisher.

'His first-team chances were limited at Southampton and this is a very good chance for him. I'm filling gaps at the moment.

'There is a hole up front, with both Delroy Facey and Leon Knight leaving, and I think that he can fill it.'
