26 year-old Simon baldry aims to be fit for the pre-season friendly against Lincoln.

Simon Baldry aims to be fit for Town's pre-season encounter with Lincoln scheduled to take place a fortnight from now.

The 26 year-old winger has had recent surgery on his right thigh and has been a slow starter under Wadsworth.

However, he was fit enough to run this moring in Wadsworth's training session.

Unfortunately for Baldry the odds are stacked against him to make the required fitness level in time for town's opening three friendlies against UniBond sides Lancaster City, Shildon FC and Bishop Auckland.

But if all goes according to plan the longest-serving player in the books has a good chance of making it in time for the Lincoln game..

"I've seen snippets of Simon in action down the years, and I know he is a pacy, tricky player " said Wadsworth. "I'm looking forward to seeing him fully fit and playing, and even though he hasn't been able to take a full part in pre-season so far, there is time yet for him to stake his claim for the big kick-off."

"I've had a look at the lads on the practice ground, but I've still to see them first hand in an actual match situation, so our friendlies are going to be very important to everybody," he added.

"You can train all you want, but there's nothing like a proper match and I think we're all ready to get going."
