Wadsworth said he was pleased with our progress in an interview with Huddersfield Town World...

With the season just two weeks away Manager Mick Wadsworth said in an interview that it was not the results that mattered but the performance of the team.

He pointed out that while he was pleased with the progress the sheer hectic and intense nature of the pre-season meant that sometimes you had a full strength squad and a number of players to pick from or sometimes key players needed to be rested and this could lead to uncommon results.  So that's why we lost against Lancaster!

He also said that he was very pleased with how our young side performed against Manchester City on Thursday and was particularly impressed with the squad in the behind-closed-doors match against Bradford, the first two periods especially.  He said if this level of performance continues we should play well against Lincoln, (In other words we'll beat them but managers never say that outright do they?)

The good news is that Martin Smith played the first two periods, (without getting injured) and although was feeling naturally tired was very happy to be back in action.

How do you think the pre-season is going?  Post your views on the message board.
