Cheltenham have announced the news that John Ward – the ex Wolves coach – will be the clubs manager for the next 2 seasons with Bob Bloomer being the first team coach.

Ward has had successful spells at York City - at which he won promotion from the 3rd Division -, Bristol Rovers - where the closest he got the Gas to promotion was a loss in the Play Off final to Huddersfield – and at Bristol City where he guided City to 2nd place in the Second Division and promotion the 1st.

Undoubtedly he has a successful CV and has most recently been employed at Wolves for the last 5 years and helped Wolves gain promotion to the Premiership, unfortunately for him Dave Jones decided to re jig his management set up and Ward was released from his contract in the summer.

After all the negativity of the Allner and Gould eras, fans must now unite behind the new gaffer and fingers crossed we can rise up the league.

It maybe too late to talk about the play offs but prospects for the season are surely better under Ward than Gould!

All at cheltenhamtown.tk welcome John Ward to the club and we hope your stay is a successful one.

John Ward Will take over after this weekends FA Cup tie at Whaddon Road against high flying Division 3 leaders Hull City.
