| Swansea City have signed Hartlepool United goalkeeper Anthony Williams on loan for one month. The former Welsh under 21 international will provide cover for Roger Freestone, as second choice goalkeeper Brian Murphy is away on international duty. |
| Murphy is part of the Irish under 20 side who have flown out to Dubai
for the World Youth Championship. Despite Williams initially being brought in as cover for Roger Freestone, Brian Flynn explained that he could force a first team appearance. ''I need to keep the pressure on Roger and both of them should relish that competition,'' he said. ''Anthony is an experienced keeper and that was important to us.'' The Hartlepool manager said: ''Anthony needs first-team football and he'll get that at Swansea. We will keep a close eye on how he does.'' Meanwhile the Swans are in talks with defenders Izzy Iriekpen and Richard Duffy. Nottingham Forrest have reportedly shown an interest in youngster Duffy, who's contract runs out at the end of the season. Izzy Iriekpen has been outstanding since arriving at the Vetch earlier in the season but his initial short term deal runs out next Tuesday. He is expected to sign a new 18 month deal to keep him in South Wales until the end of next season. |
