Ian Bell sent a reminder to the ECB selectors that he is still very much in the hunt for a test place, with a hard-fought 87 for the Academy against Sri Lanka A.

Warwickshire's Ian Bell hit 87 as
England's Academy side batted out for a draw in their four-day match with
Sri Lanka A at Dambulla. Bell hit 10 fours in a 277-ball knock that helped England reach 271 for
six in their second innings, a lead of 240, before proceedings came to a
close. Durham's Gordon Muchall also weighed in with 43 and Glamorgan
wicketkeeper Mark Wallace was unbeaten on 36 at the end of play.
