Zimbabwe May Yet Tour England

He went some way to allaying fears Zimbabwe may choose to stay away in a tit-for-tat response to the decision of Nasser Hussain's team to boycott their World Cup tie in Harare last month.

There had been speculation the Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) would be put under political pressure from the government to abandon their tour.

But Chingoka has now hinted that the series would go ahead as planned.

"We had already committed ourselves that we would undertake the tour mid-last year, and the ECB had already sold television and other rights basing it on our written commitment," he said.

Chingoka, chairman of the ZCU, said Morgan would be expected to speak on England's refusal to fulfil their Pool A match on February 13.

He said: "Saturday's meeting is routine. But the issue of our tour of England is an emergency item on the agenda, and we have accommodated Morgan's address.

"He is expected to address the board on England's non-appearance in Harare for a World Cup match last month and the financial repercussions for their non-appearance.

"Morgan will also address the conditions and safeguards of our tour to England at the end of April. The ZCU board will be looking at the advantages, disadvantages and consequences of not honouring that tour," added Chingoka.

Zimbabwe are scheduled to play two Test matches against England and a one-day triangular tournament also involving South Africa in May, June and July.
