England have picked an unchanged team to
be captained by Michael Vaughan in the second Test against South Africa at
Lord's. Vaughan will lead England for the first time in Tests on Thursday,
following the resignation of Nasser Hussain at the conclusion of the drawn
first Test at Edgbaston. But he will have a clutch of familiar faces around him, because
chairman of selectors David Graveney has announced the same team who
played the tourists over the past five days. Alec Stewart and Marcus Trescothick are therefore both expected to play
at Lord's despite their respective knee and finger injuries sustained in
Birmingham. But England have nominated Sussex's James Kirtley - original 12th man
in the first Test - as bowling cover, and Robert Key to stand by as a
batsman. England team to play South Africa at Lord's in the second Test from
July 31-August 4: M Vaughan (captain), M Trescothick, M Butcher, N
Hussain, A McGrath, A Stewart (wkt), A Flintoff, A Giles, D Gough, S
Harmison, J Anderson. |
