The transfer sagas at Spurs often tend to be long drawn out affairs, which is no surprise with the complications involved and it is nice to hear the current noises coming from the spurs camp.

Sporting Director Damien Comolli added: “Martin and I are always looking to increase his playing options and to plan ahead. We know what we want, but I also know Martin feels it is key to only bring in players who really want to be part of what he is building here.”

It's excellent to see we are no longer hunting for any player that will come if we pay them enough. It's up to us. If they are not showing the commitment to spurs, it seems we will not up our offer just to get the man. Many clubs nowadays are having to pay over the odds in wages and signing on fees, usually because they are not offering enough in other departments. It's good to see us drawing the line, making the player not the club make the commitment.

The 'ITK' rumours have been flying around over the last week, and no doubt that the clubs monitor the internet message boards, so it is no major surprise to see 'Jol' come out with comments like these:

Martin added: “As always at this time of the summer transfer rumours are rife and I would ask our supporters not to take too much notice, but rather to rely on our web for official news.”

The next month or so will be interesting, nearly every fan is agreed on the areas of the squad that need strengthening, and it seems that the club seem to be targeting these players as well.

Unfortunately for the impatient football fan, it seems patience is what is required!
