Spurs: The Drew Thompson article is back!!!

After such a long wait, Mr Thompson is finally back with one of his famous columns. Guaranteed to make you laugh maybe cry, but isnt that just the nature of Spurs?!

News:
Toda signs! I do remember seeing him play in the
World Cup, and from what I recall he was quite a handy
little fella. Not the Keane/Vieira-style midfield
anchor we were hoping for, but good luck to him
anyway. Who knows, they say the biggest surprises
come in small packages. Just wish I could get that
point across to my missus…

Anyway, 7th place after pussy-whipping the Black Cats
and on course for a European place come May, and
things are (touch wood) starting to look up again. 11
games left of the season to go, so hopefully mostly
wins and a couple of draws and we’re home & dry and
playing our first European football since winning the
League Cup a good few years back. Cracking stuff from
Anderton, Carr, Poyet, and Keano in the last month or
so to get us into a fairly decent position. C’mon you
Spurs!

Tottenham 4 – 1 Sunderland:
Hahahahahahaha!!!!!! Never a truer word said than
‘revenge is a dish best served COLD’! Even without
Keane for 3 quarters of the game, we still spanked
that small team (practically) from Scotland 4-1!!!
Now, Wilko’s not exactly the cheeriest chappie this
side of the hemisphere, but blimey, can you imagine
the knees up him & Steve Cotterill DIDN’T have after
getting a fierce battering at the hands of Gus Poyet?
How refreshing to record our biggest win margin of the
season against arguably the most miserable team in the
league. If they’re not the best argument for the
legal use of Prozac in football, then I don’t know who
is. Even West Ham seem to be a lot happier than
them…and they’re rooted to the bottom!

Pleatwatch:
Rumour has it that Nathan “The Duke” Ellington is the
latest name on old Pleatie’s shopping list. Although
his current goals-to-games ratio is pretty full on,
it’s hard to see him doing anything like that in the
Premiership.

Transfers:
The Morientes rumour continues to do the rounds, with
the Spanish international being lined up in the summer
for a seriously cheap £6m… Jim Duggan on his Topspurs
site reports that there is still a possibility of us
signing Samuel Eto'o in June once his 50% sell on
clause to Real Madrid has been lifted… The
Independent suggests that we have targeted Crystal
Palace’s talented young winger Julian Gray…


People’s Player Of The Week:
Well, as I’ve been AWOL for a bit, the only people to
ask were the people in the left hand side Upper North
at the Sunderland game the other week. After several
tongue-in-cheek votes for Bad Back Iversen, this
week’s winner is none other than…Sicknote! Top effort
in the last few games and just generally getting
himself about the pitch for the full 90 minutes is
something we’d like to see him continue to do for the

Despite Shaggy unofficially winning Player Of The Week
this week, I have heard non-stop complaints about the
use (or non-use) of Milenko Acimovic over the last few
weeks. “Do we use him as an attacking midfielder?, or
“Why doesn’t Hoddle give him a crack up front?”. Not
being Spurs manager, I couldn’t really tell you.
However, I totally agree. Word from the training
ground is that Acimovic has been playing in the
support striker role in closed-door practice games and
has taken to it very well. Who knows? Watch this
space…

Misc:
England vs Australia – Well, you all probably watched
it so you don’t need me to tell you how badly we got
spanked by the Aussies. Sturdy debut from King, but
why on Earth isn’t Richards being given a fair crack
of the whip? Easily our best defender this season,
surely he deserves a run out at international level to
see if he has what it takes?
