Tottenham Hotspur news: Butt chase hots up.

Steve Gibson has entered the Butt, chase, along with Everton, Spurs and Birmingham, however the Middlesbrough chairman does not seem to be too hopeful about landing the Man U hardman. Steve Gibson commented;

"If we can make it happen, we would like to make it happen, But we are not close to that. I don't want to mislead anyone.

"Whether it can happen or if it is realistic, time will tell. If it is right for us, the player and the selling club, then there is a possibility it could happen.

"He is a fantastic player. Steve [McClaren] knows him and how good he is and he would be a fantastic asset for this club."

This must surely place Spurs in the driving seat as both Everton and Boro have only tabled small bids to pinch Butt.
