Dear Daniel, Thank you for your letter the other week inviting me to hand over £610 to watch my team again next season. As you are aware I have been watching them for thirty years and have had a season ticket for the past 22.

As you are aware I have been watching them for thirty years and have had a season ticket for the past 22. The difficulty for me is that rarely have we had so little reason to fork out the money which would no doubt pay for several other things, which don't only indulge myself and offer a little comfort or enjoyment to others in my life, instead of me feeling bloody miserable most Saturday's [and Sundays, Tuesdays, Mondays, and the occasional Friday.

As it stands we have no manager, a non descript side, and a series of hollow promises. No doubt we will continue to be associated with the top managerial names and players, and we will continue to fail sign them. I understand that there can be no definites in football, all I want is a little hope. You say that there will be major squad changes it is hard to see how that cannot happen with the ageing squad and several senior players clearly beyond the point where it is worth even contemplating having their contracts renewed.

So where does it leave me? Of course you know I will be back next season I may not renew before the end of May and you may even write to me again telling me how I have lost my accrued loyalty points (probably not worth a lot given our current prospects, which have been collected over many years. But I will come back, along with 36,000 others most weeks because we care, something which I am beginning to doubt that you do, about the club or indeed about us (but then I have always known that the only time you care about me is when you want my money).
